Geotechnical Department Manager: Job Description

We’re looking for an experienced Geotechnical Department Manager to oversee our geotechnical engineering and subsurface exploration team. This role is critical to ensuring the smooth delivery of geotechnical services for projects spanning residential, commercial, utilities, tunneling, roadways, bridges, and more.
 
What You’ll Do:
  • Provide geotechnical expertise, including foundation recommendations, ground improvement solutions, and excavation strategies.
  • Lead and manage a talented team of engineers and subsurface exploration professionals.
  • Oversee field investigations, geophysical testing (like GPR), and project budgets.
  • Collaborate on multidisciplinary projects and prepare proposals, reports, and plans.
  • Engage in business development to build client relationships and drive growth.
What We’re Looking For:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (Master’s preferred) with a focus on Geotechnical Engineering.
  • PE license preferred, with 8+ years of geotechnical engineering experience.
  • Expertise in deep foundation testing, geotechnical software (e.g., AutoCAD, gINT, Settle3), and instrumentation (e.g., vibration monitoring, inclinometers).
  • Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills.
  • Willingness to perform fieldwork and attend industry events.
